Toxic Products Alert from Aliexpress, Shein and Temu. Recently, news has spread across Asia regarding contaminants found in products from Aliexpress and Shein, primarily in children’s products and accessories sold on these electronic platforms.

In the analysis, it was discovered that there were high concentrations of toxic substances, exceeding permissible levels by up to 270 times.

This information was disclosed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in Korea. According to this government, children’s accessories such as headbands or watches were contaminated with phthalate-based plasticizers.

But what are phthalates? Phthalates are chemicals that disrupt the human reproductive system and increase the risk of infertility, premature birth, and reduce sperm count in those exposed to them.

While measures have already been taken in these countries, here in Latin America, these issues are not yet being addressed, nor are the potential consequences of such products being discussed.

Furthermore, it’s uncertain if measures will be taken to control this contamination. Just from the period up to today, with more than 22 products analyzed, several inappropriate ingredients for use have been detected.

The substance was found in plastic children’s products, with levels 349 times higher than Asia’s safety standards. It’s not just Shein; TEMU also has automobile umbrellas containing plasticizers at levels 324 times higher than the safety standard.
